3. How the App Works

- Dewdrop device names and configurations
- Moisture setpoint preferences
- Historical sensor readings
- Connection settings (IP addresses, WiFi names)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it.
Network Communication
The App communicates directly with your Dewdrop hardware devices over your local WiFi network. These communications:
- Occur only on your local network
- Use standard HTTP protocols
- Do not traverse the internet
- Are not encrypted (as they remain within your local network)
WiFi Network Detection
The App requests location permission solely to detect WiFi network names (SSIDs), as required by iOS. We:
- Only read the network name to verify connection to Dewdrop devices
- Never access your actual geographic location
- Never store or transmit network information
4. Permissions We Request
Location Permission (When In Use)
- Why: iOS requires location permission to access WiFi network names
- What we access: Only the name of the currently connected WiFi network
- What we DON'T access: Your actual location, location history, or movement patterns
Local Network Permission
- Why: To communicate with Dewdrop devices on your network
- What we access: Only the specific IP addresses you configure for your devices
- What we DON'T access: Other devices on your network or internet traffic
5. Data Security
Since all data remains on your device:
- Data is protected by your device's built-in security features
- No data transmission over the internet means no interception risk
- Deleting the app removes all associated data
- You maintain complete control over your information
6. Third-Party Services
The Dewdrop app does not integrate with any third-party services, including:
- No analytics platforms
- No crash reporting services
- No advertising networks
- No social media integrations
- No cloud storage services
7. Children's Privacy
Dewdrop does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app's local-only design ensures no data collection occurs regardless of user age.
8. Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
